If you’ve ever looked at the night sky, you’ve probably wondered how it all came to be: The night sky is so much more than twinkling lights and moonbeams: And there’s a reason why your grandparents and great-grandparents could see the night sky, and it’s still beautiful; it’s called stargazing, which means looking at the stars and planets through a telescope or binoculars.
Why do people stargaze?
Stargazing is a hobby that’s been around for thousands of years, and it’s still enjoyed by many people today, gazing up at the stars, is a way to discover what our universe is made of, and how it works; it’s a perfect activity to do with your kids, and it’s the best way to discover the beauty of the night sky.
Types of stargazing

You don’t need a fancy telescope or binoculars to get started in stargazing because these can be seen by the naked eye, even in light pollution areas, just be sure to look up when you’re outside, and hold your gaze steady for a few seconds.
What it costs to stargaze
Stargazing isn’t expensive, but you will have to pay for equipment where the most expensive is a good pair of binoculars, but there are plenty of affordable options out there.
Some people also enjoy stargazing with a telescope, but they’re expensive and bulky so they’re not the best choice for everyone, you could also look into a device that projects the sky onto a smartphone for stargazing; and if you’re serious about stargazing, you can even buy a piece of equipment called a refractor telescope.
There are other ways to stargaze outside of the night sky itself, you can use a solar telescope to look at the sun and see solar eclipses or observing programs; if you’re interested in space or astronomy, you can also look into planetariums or museums that host educational exhibits on the solar system.; and if you’re interested in the history of astronomy, or stargazing in general, you can also look into Astro-culottes—costumes that look like they were forged by the stars themselves.
